Japanese News Media Express Interest in YG’s Winner
Recently named YG Entertainment’s new rookie group, Winner is already gaining much attention from overseas.
Japan’s Nikkan Sports, Senkai Sports, Sports Hochi, Sports Nippon, Junichi Sports, and Daily Sports all reported on October 27 about YG’s Winner with headliners such as “Winner to Land in Japan,” and “We are Winner.”
The news platforms reported on YG Entertainment’s Who Is Next: WIN, which had its final episode on October 25 with Team A being the overall winners. The reports read, “The new group has plans to release an album in Japanese as well as open up for Big Bang’s six dome concerts in November.”
For Japanese media platforms to fly to Korea and personally report on a rookie group that has yet to have its official debut is a rarity, showing just what a big issue YG’s new boy band is in Japan already.
YG Japan’s Watanabe Yoshimi said, “The fact that the six representative sports newspapers in Japan are reporting about this show the high expectations they have for Winner.”
Meanwhile, Team A, who was recently crowned the winner after two months worth of practicing and battles starting August 23, is preparing for its official debut. Also, on October 28, the four songs created by Team A and B will be released in a digital single.
