The Shinhwa members recalled the emotional moment when they won their first Grand Prize (Daesang) in their career.

The second installment of the Shinhwa special for MBC’s Radio Star aired on March 28.

Was Success Sweeter for Shinhwa after Leaving SM?

When asked to choose three songs the members would say were their top 3 favorites, no. 2 turned out to be Brand New, the promotional single from the group’s seventh album released in 2004. The group’s promotions for the single awarded the group the Grand Prize in the Seoul Music Awards and SBS’ Music Festival that year, and made the album the group’s most successful album after it had left SM Entertainment.

When the MCs asked whether they cared more about the album because it came after the group had left SM Entertainment, the members answered, “We thought we would be able to win no. 1 if we worked hard, but we didn’t think we would be able to get the Grand Prize,” and added that all of the members, excluding Eric, had cried a lot when they won the award.

MC Kyuhyun, however, didn’t let the emotional moment last, when he called the tearless Eric “harsh and heartless,” drowning the studio in laughter.
