After making a surprise appearance on SBS’ The Heirs, Super Junior’s Heechul revealed the story behind the cameo.

On the October 24 broadcast of jTBC’s Ssulzun, the MC panel talked about famous drama writers who are making a comeback on television. The four writers they talked about were Kim Eun Sook, Moon Young Nam, Im Sung Han and Kim Soo Hyun.

Heechul shared how he became close with writer Kim Eun Sook three years ago at a drinking setting. He added that ahead of the filming for the show, Heechul called Kim Eun Sook to interview her to prepare for the discussion.

“I asked her, ‘What do you think about auto-replication of romantic comedies?’ and she said, ‘Auto-replication. You’re right. But not everyone can do it. It’s possible because it’s me. Because it’s me, the ‘foam kiss’ and ‘Baby, let’s go’ happened,” explained Heechul.

“Then after the first episode of The Heirs came out, she called and said, ‘I did an interview for you, so you make a cameo,’” said Heechul. “So I filmed it yesterday, because I’m a certified check for ratings.”

Heechul also teased his cameo appearance via SNS on October 15, writing, “I filmed a cameo appearance for The Heirs after making a deal with Kim Eun Sook nuna. If you want to know how I’m close with Kim Eun Sook nuna or why I filmed it, make sure to watch Ssulzun and The Heirs.”

Following the broadcast, viewers commented, “So that’s the deal,” “I wish he comes out as a cameo again,” and “I’m saddened he couldn’t get 90 percent in ratings.”
