Nicole Wishes to Remain as Kara Member Despite Decision to Leave DSP
Despite not re-signing with her agency for another two years like the other members, Kara’s Nicole showed hope to continue promoting with Kara.
On October 6, Nicole uploaded a long post on her Twitter addressing, “My beloved Kamilia.” In the post, she wrote that although her contract with DSP Media will be soon ending, she wishes to continue working as a Kara member.
Her statement is as follows:
“I apologize for creating worries and even hurt with the news of Kara’s re-signing and disbandment rumors.
But I was also very shocked to see that my leaving and disbandment rumors were becoming an issue all of the sudden, while I’m still working hard in Kara with a Japanese tour ahead of me. So I’m posting this to express my thoughts.
The most important thing is… I began as a Kara member and I want to end as a Kara member. As a re-signing with my current agency cannot happen, after seeing all the articles and interviews with affiliated staff that Kara will have replacement members, I’ve become very frustrated and confused.
I believe that my renewal issue with DSP is not as a Kara member but as an article. Although I won’t be an artist with my company, I believe I can search for a solution to staying with the group I’ve been with all this time.
I am just one person. Just because of one person, I don’t think Kara should disband or change members. So I think my contract with the company and my contract as a Kara member can be separated. In other words, a division between my personal and public life.
I still have a lot of goals. So while I do my best with Kara promotions, I also want to work on creating a new me. In order to do that, I believe I need to spend more time and effort on myself. So I decided not to re-sign with DSP so that I can invest in my future.
As a Kara member, I’ve received a lot of love from our Kamilia and I wanted to continue showing a good image to everyone, but as the issue continued to get bigger and bigger, it becomes a hurt to you and me…my heart is in pain.
I was in a lot of pain hearing about the re-signing, the disbandment, and member changes. I also think that the group called Kara does not belong to just one person. In that sense, I believe I also have a lot of responsibilities as a Kara member, which is why I had the above thoughts.
But if everyone and representatives of Kara don’t agree with me and think this is impossible, then I will return as one person named Jung Nicole.
Regardless of my contract issues with my agency, I promise that I will continue acting as a Kara member. I love and will continue to love Kara and am happy to work as a Kara member… Kara is such a big part of my life.
Thank you to all who love and supported us…”
On October 4, DSP Media announced that Nicole will not be re-signing with the company. Park Gyuri, Han Seung Yeon, and Goo Hara will continue with the agency for the next two years.
