After a Year, CN Blue Makes a Return to the Korean Music Scene
CN Blue has returned to the Korean music scene and is focusing on its original intention to sing ‘without fear’ as it once did.
On March 26, CN Blue held a showcase for its new mini album Ear Fun at Seoul’s L-Tower marking the band′s return to Korea’s music scene after a year.
At the showcase, the band got up on stage and immediately went into its song I Still Love You without any introductions. The acoustic song was self-penned by member Jung Yong Hwa.
It then followed with In My Head and its title song Hey You. Drawing particular interest was In My Head which was also composed by Jung and sold over 100,000 copies in Japan. The song’s Korean lyrics were translated by Jung as well.
Jung shared on this day, “When we began preparing this album the thoughts of if this is the right time and other thoughts gave us a lot of pressure. In the past, we never had such thoughts. We simply created music because we liked it and were always amazed that it could be turned into an album. So we made the conscious effort to return to that period of ‘let’s have fun while doing it’.”
Jung continued, “When we think back to our Loner days we really had no fear and didn’t focus on anything else and just had fun, and were happy doing music. So I told our members for this album let’s put our focus back to having no fear like our Lonerdays.”
Member Lee Jong Hyun added, “The pressure grows as time passes. But to overcome that issue we really prepared our hardest and I’m quite pleased with our efforts.”
The new album is also raising interest for the many self-composed tracks by Jung.
On this matter Jung shared, “Not just for this album, but I’ve really focused on putting our music color into these self-composed songs. Just like our album title, ‘ear fun’, we wanted to put in tracks that had a fresh and cheerful feel to them. But In My Head is especially a cherished and beloved track of mine, so I really wanted to put it into this album. We want to play the passionate CN Blue songs.”
Unfortunately, CN Blue plans to promote this album for only one month. The reason is because member Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jong Hyun have been cast in their respective dramas. The short period of promotion as a band will be a slight downside to fans who have waited for them so long.
On the day of CN Blue’s new mini album release, Ear Fun was found to have placed first on various online music charts.
