‘The King 2Hearts’ Emerges Victorious, Earns 16.2% In Ratings
MBC’s The King 2Hearts got to celebrate an early victory in the new drama battle.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on March 22, the March 21 broadcast of The King 2Hearts recorded 16.2 percent viewership ratings.
All three main channels, KBS, MBC and SBS, showcased a new drama in the same time slot that day.
While MBC’s The Sun and the Moon came out victorious in the first round against KBS2’s Wild Romance and SBS’ Take Care of Us, Captain in January, the second round between SBS’ Rooftop Prince, KBS’ The Equator Man and MBC’s The King 2Hearts sparked curiosity on who the new winner would be.
The King 2Hearts showed it could be the next The Sun and the Moon. The story of South Korean Crown Prince Lee Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi) and his relationship with North Korean instructor Kim Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won), under the premise that South Korea is ruled by a constitutional monarchy, sparked interested not only because of the plot, but also because of the star power of the two leads.
Its competitor Rooftop Prince by SBS gathered 9.8 percent ratings, while KBS2’s The Equator Man recorded 7.7 percent.
Will The King 2Hearts be able to keep it up?
