Uhm Tae Woong vs Lee Seung Gi vs Park Yoo Chun
‘No matter what the result, one team will go home the loser.’
This is what’s being said about the big upcoming battle between the three upcoming main channel dramas, MBC’s The King 2Hearts, KBS2’s The Equator Man and SBS’ Rooftop Prince.
The three are represented by Lee Seung Gi, Uhm Tae Woong and Park Yoo Chun, and at least one team will be branded the loser in this fierce battle for the top drama spot.
As such, enews tried to put together an evaluation of the three dramas and what you should look forward to seeing.
Two dramas have been waiting for MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, with its 40 percent viewership ratings, to end - The Equator Man and Rooftop Prince.
‘The Equator Man’, Uhm Tae Woong’s transformation
The Equator Man is a traditional melodrama about revenge. Many say that although it is conventional, it is the most realistic out of the three dramas. They’re also looking forward to seeing the lead Uhm Tae Woong shed his variety image to hold the center of the drama with a weight similar to that he showed in Devil.
He’s also strengthened by the fact that he’s being backed by KBS’ 1 Night, 2 Days, as shown in the March 18 broadcast where he openly promoted the drama.
‘Rooftop Prince’, a comical Park Yoo Chun
Rooftop Prince didn’t have a smooth start. The main lead Park Yoo Chun got involved in problems regarding his stalker fans, and his father suddenly passed away soon after that.
But taking a look at the drama itself, will reveal that all of the hardships will probably be followed by bright days. Park Yoo Chun will be taking on the role of a prince with his strong fanbase. This means even the minimum number of fans that the drama will bring in will be fairly significant. The setting that involves time warps and travel to the present from the past is also interesting enough to draw in some interest.
Park Yoo Chun will be giving his viewers another sight to see with a comical image completely different from the proud one he built up through KBS2’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
‘The King 2Hearts’, the prince Lee Seung Gi
Lee Seung Gi is the Midas’ Hand of broadcasting. Everything he touches becomes gold, from 1 Night, 2 Days to SBS’ Strong Heart, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and Shining Inheritance. As such, his presence alone is enough to train the spotlight on the drama.
The drama has an interesting premise involving a constitutional monarchy, and Lee Seung Gi will be matched with Ha Ji Won. It’s also interesting in that it brings together director Lee Jae Gyu and scriptwriter Hong Jin Ah of MBC’s Beethoven Virus for the first time in four years.
The drama is sure to have a great storyline, and it features the South Korean prince Lee Seung Gi and the North Korean instructor Ha Ji Won. Many are expecting this drama to be the winner out of the three.
The battle of the three dramas can be summarized to be a battle between Lee Seung Gi, Uhm Tae Woong’s 1 Night, 2 Days power and Park Yoo Chun’s idol power. One thing is for sure: at least one team will go for a deep plunge.
We’ll be able to get some clues on which drama will be victorious on March 21 - but who do you hope will be the victor?
