Character Cuts of Kim Ki Bum in ‘A Tree With Deep Roots’ Revealed
Super Junior’s Kim Ki Bum, who’s been noticeably absent from the K-Pop scene, will be returning to his career as an actor in the SBS drama, A Tree with Deep Roots.
On September 19, the official A Tree with Deep Roots twitter tweeted stills of the drama, featuring Kim Ki Bum with the caption, “Ki Bum, the young Hall of Worthies scholar Park Paeng Nyun; the one you’ve all been waiting for. He’s one of the key figures who invented Hunminjeongeum. He is a quiet and principled man.”
Kim Ki Bum will be playing the role of scholar Park Paeng Nyeon, who is also a member of Lee Do’s (Han Suk Kyu) secret organization. Park Paeng Nyeon is close friends with Sung Sam Mun (Hyun Woo), and is a quiet and principled man completely opposite of the light and cheerful Sung Sam Mun. The two always disagree with each other, but when they are in an investigation they show great teamwork.
A Tree with Deep Roots, which is based on Lee Jung Myung’s novel of the same name, tells the story of a series of murders against Hall of Worthies scholars, which take place in Gyeongbok Palace for seven days before the creation of Hunminjeongeum (The Correct/Proper Sounds for the Instruction of the People) is announced. The drama’s first episode will be aired on October 5 following Protect the Boss.
