‘Fashion King’ Off to a Good Start with Yoo Ah In

Fashion King is a drama that will show the challenges, successes, love and desires of the youth who work in the fashion industry. It is a collaborative piece between scriptwriter Lee Sun Mi and Kim Ki Ho, who also wrote for Something Happened in Bali and Star in My Heart, and director Lee Myung Woo, the man behind Bad Couple and Ja Myung Go.

Gang Young Gul is a boy that was brought up under a strict aunt who peddles in Dongdaemun, and must see a perfect end to anything he’s started. Young Gul opens a shop in Dongdaemun Market as soon as he’s released from the military with the sole purpose of earning some money for himself.

Yoo Ah In played out a perfect Young Gul, a macho boy who′s neither bad nor good, with his characteristic brand of guile and sometimes gave his viewers a sight to see by appearing shirtless in some scenes.

After the broadcast, viewers took to viewer forums to write, ‘[Sungkyunkwan Scandal’s] Guhro is back. From a pure boy to a tough boy’, ‘Bed scenes in the first episode, thank you’ and ‘I think this’ll be big!’

The viewership ratings for the first episode of Fashion King also showed it was off to a good start with 10 percent (AGB Nielsen), a number slightly higher than that of its predecessor History of Salaryman.
