TVXQ Records 10th Weekly No. 1 Hit on Oricon
TVXQ wrote another new page in J-Pop history.
Its new single album Still rose to the top of the Oricon Daily Chart on March 14, the day of its release, and also topped the Weekly Chart of that week, handing the group its 10th weekly no. 1.
Having 10 weekly no. 1 single albums is a first for any foreign singer in Japan, a feat that comes 45 years since the Oricon started ranking sales in January 1968. TVXQ even broke its own records for the foreign singer with the most no. 1 hits.
Still also marks the group’s 26th top 10 entry in the Weekly Single Chart, a record which started with the group’s seventh single album Sky released in August 2006.
Oricon reported on the record on March 20 through its news section under the title ‘TVXQ Becomes First Foreign Singer to Record 10 No. 1 Singles’, mentioning that the record was ‘a first in the 45 years of Oricon rankings’.
TVXQ is currently touring 11 cities to perform a total of 26 concerts under the title TVXQ Live Tour 2012~TONE~, which is expected to bring in 550,000 people after successfully selling out concert after concert.
