Jung Seok Won, the normally serious, straight-faced actor, will have you laughing with his new transformation.

Jung Seok Won is currently busy filming SBS’ drama Rooftop Prince as the swordsman Woo Yong Sool, who followed his prince to the present from Joseon through a time leap.

His looks are where most of the shock comes from, as he is shown in photos donning long hair along with a colorful training suit and a serious air. The actor is famous as Baek Ji Young’s charismatic lover, but the charisma is nowhere to be seen in the revealed stills, in which he comes off to be cheap and laughable.

A rep from Jung Seok Won’s agency Forestar Entertainment said, “He often acted in characters that wore suits or neat styles. However, in Rooftop Prince, he’ll be grabbing eyes with his laughable training suit fashion. He’ll be turning around 180 degrees for a new image.”

Jung Seok Won will be entrusted with the task to protect the Crown Prince with his fellow swordsmen, a group which includes Lee Min Ho, who came to the future with him. He boasts a certaub charisma when he is wearing his swordsman’s suit, but once he changes into new and modern clothing, he leaves all the heaviness behind to appeal with a friendlier image.

The rep added, “Because he’s wearing comfortable clothes, Jung Seok Won is acting more comfortably also with less tension. He’s really tense because it’s a new character for him, but he’s looking forward to it also because the people at the set are showing favorable reactions.”

Rooftop Prince is a fantasy romance about how a Crown Prince from the Joseon Period jumps 300 years into the future to 21C Seoul, finds his lost Crown Princess and fulfills his love. It will air its first episode on March 21.
