IU Captivates Hearts of Japanese Fans
IU’s effortless Japanese charmed an MC in Japan.
On the March 15 broadcast of NagoyaTV’s morning program How Are You, the program held a sit-down interview with the young singer, as she preparing to release her debut album in Japan on March 21
During this broadcast, the show raised the interest of its viewers introducing her as “Korea’s next dongseng after figure skater Kim Yuna” and "the star receiving the most attention ahead of her debut compared to her hallyu peers."
IU who met with the MC introduced herself in Japanese and carried on a conversation without much aid of her Japanese translator.
During this segment she opened up by saying, “I’m so nervous in front of a young and cute friend. To release the tension may I shake hands with you?” while extending her hands first to the MC.
During their handshake she then asked the MC, “How is it?” further raising the anxiousness of the MC.
Continuing on through the interview, even during the times she did not fully understand or made mistakes, IU didn′t show any nervousness, and continued to put in her best efforts by utilizing all the Japanese she knew.
Japanese and Korean viewers who watched the interview commented by saying, “She’s so cute I want to bite her” and “I think anyone who was watched by her and her big eyes would get nervous.”
IU will release her debut single Good Day on March 21.
