The KOXX Hopes to Earn Success Like That of Idol Bands
The KOXX, the five-member band that made a name for itself with its appearance in numerous well-known domestic and foreign rock festivals, have been picked to appear in KBS2’s Top Band 2 and completed the registration process on the morning of March 15.
The KOXX said, “There was some regret after seeing the success of some of the bands from season one of Top Band. Moreover, we were angry at the fact that non-idol groups were never considered as part of the mainstream music scene. We hope [Top Band 2] will provide the same opportunity that are given to bands in foreign markets; to become stars through their own unique style of music,” revealing their motivation for joining the show.
The KOXX debuted in 2010 and held concerts in Thailand and China, following its appearance in ‘Summer Sonic’, Japan’s large-scale music festival. The group was also introduced as the representative rock band of Korea and Asia through various media outlets. The KOXX previously released its EP album Enter (2010) and first full-length album Access OK under a foreign license.
Furthermore, The KOXX member Lee Hyun Song is currently appearing alongside actress Kim Ok Bin on Mnet’s OK Punk.
The other bands that will compete in the survival program will include Monni, Daybreak, Prana, T.A-Copy, SuperKidd, Nemesis, and one other unidentified band. The current bands in Top Band 2 has gotten a lot of buzz and are reminiscent of a line-up from a rock festival.
On March 15, The KOXX will travel abroad to attend the ‘Mosaic Music Festival’ in Singapore and undertake its promotional activities in Thailand. After the band′s return, The KOXX will hold their self-planned concert ‘PiXEL’ on March 31, which will also feature Pia, Telefly and The HIATUS.
