Wheesung Completes Military Service with an Apology
After serving for two years and a couple additional days, Wheesung has finally wrapped up his military duties and returned to the arms of fans.
On August 9, Wheesung was discharged from his mandatory army services from his post at the army training center in Nonsan. He addressed the press and fans who came to see him, saying, “I wanted to get discharged quietly and cleanly, so I’m apologetic that it was a bit noisy in the final run.
Wheesung was accused of abusing Propofol but later had his name cleared. Then right ahead of his discharge date, he was given three days in the army guardhouse for using a cellphone. His original discharge date was August 6.
“More than my heart hurting, I think what was more painful was that my family and fans were sad,” said Wheesung. “I’m just glad that I can sing again. Thank you for coming out to see me today.”
“I think it was good for me to come to the army,” said the singer. “Although I worked among very young friends, I learned a lot. I also found out which direction I would like my music to go.”
He added that the two girl groups who are most popular in the army right now are A Pink and Crayon Pop.
Wheesung enlisted in November of 2011 and served as an army instructor. He made an unplanned appearance through MBC’s Real Man in April.
