Block B′s agency Stardom Entertainment was recently ordered to return the 600 million won that concert production company Shownote paid the agency in plans to collaborate on a concert.

According to law circles on July 28, the Seoul Central District Court gave Shownote the upper hand in a case it had filed against Stardom for the return of its prepayment. Stardom was ordered to pay Shownote about 652 million won.

Stardom and Shownote had planned in September 2012 to collaborate on a Block B concert, and signed a contract defining the distribution of the show′s profits. Shownote paid Stardom 600 million won in prepayment for the concert, and also paid the agency about 52 million won in October 2012 to produce Block B′s showcase.

In January, however, the Block B members filed for the cancellation of their contract with Stardom, rendering all plans for the concert useless and sparking conflict between the two companies.

Shownote notified Stardom that their contract did not hold anymore, and sued the agency for the return of its 600 million won and showcase fees.

Stardom in return lay the blame on Block B for refusing to hold the concert, and countered with a suit for damages, saying Shownote had done psychological harm to the agency by issuing press releases that attacked Stardom Entertainment head Cho PD.

The court, however, ruled in favor of Shownote, saying, "Even if the Block B members happen to wrongfully refuse to hold the concert, this is a problem that should be dealt with within the agency. The contract was broken legally, and Stardom has the obligation to return prepayments and showcase production fees to Shownote."

Block B filed a case against its agency Stardom, but the case was dismissed by the justice department.
