[Interview] Roy Kim Says He′ll Repay His Fans with Better Music
Roy Kim rose to stardom with his appearance in an audition program, and won trophies with his official debut. Recently, however, he′s hit some hard going as his self-written song Spring, Spring, Spring was accused of having been plagiarised from another song.
His year in showbiz brought him great fame, but it also brought with it great difficulty.
"I′m very sorry for causing so much trouble. I′ll work hard not to disappoint my fans with good music."
He had been suffering from the recent turn of events, but he still remembered to care for his fans and thank them.
"I′m happy I′ve been able to reach out to so many people through music. My father wanted me to become such a person when I grow up. Of course, he wanted me to do so through my studies, but after he saw that I was achieving that goal and spreading more positive energy through music, he started to show his support for me."
Music is a way for him to reach out to others and at the same time express who he really is.
Mnet′s Superstar K4, which he tried out for with a light heart, changed his life and turned it upside down.
This is why he wants to continue on his musical career. He found a side of himself even he never knew of before through music, and tapped into a greater energy that helped him grow.
"I appeared in the show because I like music and I did it because it made me happy, but so many people have been showing me their support. I want to continue to work with music, and not forget what I was determined to do at first. It′s a great love that I won′t be able to repay in full in my entire lifetime."
Roy Kim isn′t aiming to mark a massive hit with his first studio album Love Love Love. He already has the love he needs.
In an effort to show his sincerity, he′s been lying low following the many controversies and accusations, looking back on himself.
"It′s important to last long. I′ll work hard to sing music that will be good even if you listen to it 10 years from now, and influence my fans in a good way."
