The rep for the Ministry said about the suspicions, "We did not find any connections with agencies in the choice of PR agents. We believe the way the Defense Media Agency (DEMA) at times picks out soldiers at its times of need led to this misunderstanding."

Assemblyman Jin Sung Joon, who is with the National Defense Committee, had said on a radio show, "PR agents have private agencies that manage them; we have received pointers that these agencies may have connections with the Defense Media Agency regarding its choice of PR agents."

In the meantime, the Ministry announced that it would close down the PR unit and move the PR agents to new units.
