Se7en and Mighty Mouth’s Sangchoo Under Investigation for Visiting Massage Parlors While On Duty
Just as SBS foreshadowed, a big scandal has broken out for celebrities currently serving as military PR agents.
On June 25, SBS’ In Depth 21 broadcasted footage of military PR agents after participating in a concert for soldiers on June 21. The celebrity soldiers present at the event include Se7en, Mighty Mouth’s Sangchoo, The Cross’ Kim Kyung Hyun, Rain and KCM.
The issue did not start until after the concert event, when a group of military PR agents gathered to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant. They were dressed out of army uniform and engaged in drinking during the dinner.
Korean soldiers are required by law to wear their uniforms and are not allowed to drink alcohol unless granted special permission.
At around 10 p.m. (KST), a few soldiers left the restaurant and returned to the motel, while at 11:30, two soldiers hopped into a taxi and disappeared, returning to the motel two hours later.
But at 2 a.m., two different soldiers left the motel and visited a massage parlor. Their stay lasted around ten minutes, before they went to a different location and entered another massage parlor.
After 30 minutes, the soldiers left the building when the In Depth 21 staff confronted the soldiers, asking if they went into both massage parlors. The soldiers remained silent, momentarily engaging in some physical confrontation with the filming staff.
The soldiers denied drinking or doing anything illegal. They left the scene at around 5 a.m. in a cab.
The filming staff interviewed the manager at the desk of the massage parlor, who confirmed that the two soldiers did not get massages due to timing and were refunded their money. The manager also stated that it was a place to receive service from women.
When the program staff interviewed with the Defense Media Agency, one military personnel stated that the soldier went to receive massages for an injury.
Since the program aired, netizens have been speculating that the two soldiers who went into the massage parlors are Se7en and Sangchoo.
On June 26, the Ministry of National Defense stated through Joongang Daily, “We are currently investigating the involved soldiers after being seen entering an adult entertainment establishment following the completion of a regional concert.” The Ministry added that if the issue is confirmed as the truth, it will take care of the situation according to the law.
Although the other celebrity soldiers were not spotted entering massage parlors, as they were filmed drinking alcohol, leaving the premises without permission, as well as possessing cell phones (also illegal for Korean soldiers), there is a possibility that these soldiers may also receive punishments.
As this scandal continues to attract attention, the spotlight is being directed to military PR agents and whether or not they are really necessary.
