Eun Ji Won Shares Why He Left ‘1 Night, 2 Days’
Eun appeared on the February 28 broadcast of KBS2’s Win Win, where he opened up about the past five years he spent on KBS2’s 1 Night, 2 Days.
He began by speaking about his admiration for his fellow season one cast mates saying, “The people who watched over me were the members. If there was even one member among the five that I felt uncomfortable with I wouldn’t have spent five years on 1 Night, 2 Days.”
Eun also shared that he contemplated over whether he should remain for the show’s second season for nearly a month before deciding he would leave, a decision that surprised many.
“I felt departing from the show was the right thing to do, but all the people around me disagreed,” said Eun. “I was even scolded by my parents, and my mother asked if I was crazy.”
He continued, ”After spending five years as the ‘juvenile child’ character, I found that somewhere along the way I had grown up. In the end, I could see the end of that character approaching. On the other hand, I don’t think a very mature character fits me either.”
Still, Eun had nothing but love for the beloved show as he gushed, “In the fifteen years I’ve been a celebrity, 1 Night, 2 Days was the first show I ever joined as a permanent member. Not only is it the show that I became most attached to, but it will be a show that I can look back on and feel joint ownership of and be able to declare as ‘my show.’”
MC Lee Su Geun of Win Win and fellow first season cast mate 1 Night, 2 Days added, “[At the filming of the final episode] It was the first time I ever saw Eun Ji Won cry. Eun normally leaves as soon as filming ends, but that day, he stayed behind to take care of the staff and to say his goodbyes.”
The episode of Win Win featuring Eun also proved to be a winner in viewership ratings for the night as it recorded first place in its time slot, recording a rating of 11.8 percent (AGB Nielsen Media Research).
