Lee Hyori’s ‘Belly Fat’ Draws Attention
Screen captures from Lee Hyori’s appearance on the first episode of SBS’ U&I have caught the attention of viewers for the less-than-flattering display of the MC’s belly.
Lee made her comeback as an MC for the show’s inaugural episode clad in a black-and-white patterned one-piece dress. Though the outfit was meant to display the sexy icon’s much-talked about figure, it was a different story when she sat down as the open front portion of her dress served to reveal a bit of a belly roll.
And despite the host’s attempts to use her cue cards to cover it up, netizens managed to capture a few unflattering shots, resulting in the much-discussed screen captures.
Netizens responded by saying, “If Lee Hyori is like that in that dress, I can’t even imagine what I would look like,” “She does look like she gained a little bit of weight, but that is nowhere near the point of being looked on as an embarrassment” and “If one were to sit down like that and not have some rolls on their belly, they would not be human”.
Lee Hyori herself seemed unaffected by the issue as she said via her Twitter on February 27, “What’s so alarming about the fact that things begin to sag a bit as one ages? It seems many journalists were only focused on drawing criticism to my belly from yesterday’s episode of U&I. I’m just a girl with the flu laughing while receiving an IV.”
Netizens responded to the tweet, saying, “That’s the Hyori unnie we know!” “Of course! That’s a given” and “Hyori unnie, you’re so cool.”
