Big Bang’s music video for its new song, Blue has reached 8 million viewers in a span of five days on YouTube, reflecting the group’s explosive popularity.

Blue’s music video was even awarded two gold medals from YouTube for hitting 8 million views. YouTube awards medals of gold, silver, and bronze in three categories:‘All Time Most Popular’, ‘Recently Most Popular’ and ‘Trending’.

Among these categories, taking into considerations the viewership numbers and ‘likes’ that were pressed, the music video was awarded gold medals for both the ‘Recently Most Popular’ and ‘Trending’ categories.

Additionally, the fact that the February 22 unveiled music video reached over 8 million views in five days means that the video was watched over a million times a day is stirring additional interest.

And just like the music video, the song itself is enjoying popularity that doesn’t seem likely to fade soon. Following its release on February 22, Blue reached number one on all the most respected daily and real-time online music charts including Melon, Cyworld, Soribada, Olleh Music, Mnet.com and more.

In light of the trend of today’s music charts, which is having its top spot replaced by competing artists within days of the release of new songs, Big Bang is showing the music scene what a dominant force it is once more.

Leading up to the upcoming February 29 release of Big Bang’s fifth mini album, Big Bang is currently releasing a short video clip and snippet of each song online. Each song preview has been receiving strong interest and praise, raising the anticipation of the upcoming new album.
