SISTAR’s Hyolyn Cries for Kids in Africa
Usually appearing tough and fearless, SISTAR’s Hyolyn shed tears while reflecting on her volunteer experiences in Africa.
On May 8, Hyolyn and Soyou participated in a production presentation for SBS’ 2013 Hope TV, where they talked about their experiences while volunteering in Liberia.
Hyolyn and Soyou talked about one particular 4-year old girl, who was suffering from starvation, yet working hard to transport rocks so she and her family could survive.
Hyolyn expressed her sadness, only finding out about the situation in Liberia now.
“There was nothing I could for those children when I was there, except to hold their hands and pray that someone come and help these children,” said Hyolyn, beginning to tear up.
Hyolyn also mentioned that a good number of children suffered from skin disease. “The environment is one that even adults can’t survive in. I wondered if this is an environment where children should live. I thought, ′What did these children do wrong that they have to live like this?′”
Meanwhile, Hope TV will air on May 10 and 11. The program will be narrated by Yoo In Na.
