Yoon Jong Shin on Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong
Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong have held the ‘Nation’s MC’ title for quite some time now - and the titles still fit.
Although Kang Ho Dong is, at the moment, semi-retired, he’s still well-known as a big MC name along with Yoo Jae Suk. What does Yoon Jong Shin, who worked with both of them at some point in his career, think about them?
Yoon Jong Shin appeared on the February 13 broadcast of SBS’ Healing Camp to talk about the two figures, and said Kang Ho Dong’s variety skills came from sheer talent. Yoon Jong Shin once hosted SBS’ Ya Shim Man Man with Kang Ho Dong, a feat that helped launch him as the variety MC he’s known as today.
About Kang Ho Dong, Yoon Jong Shin said, “Kang Ho Dong is special, and I believe he’s a genius. I was once really envious of Kang Ho Dong’s energy in his hosting skills. He looks fat and dull, but he’s fast in guessing what others are thinking, and you feel overwhelmed by him.”
About Yoo Jae Suk, he said, “He was unknown for a long time in the 90s. He used to be a normal person like me, but he started to cultivate his own unique reflex and feel based on his experience in the 90s.”
Yoon Jong Shin continued to praise Yoo Jae Suk, whom he collaborated with for SBS’ Family Outing, and said, “I was often impressed, but sometimes I was in despair wondering whether I should be here.”
Yoon Jong Shin learned how to act in variety through his experiences with the two. Before, he was caught in a dilemma because of his original career as a musician, although he did feel pleasure in making others laugh.
“I promised myself one thing before I started appearing on variety, and that was that I shouldn’t bring my music into variety,” he said. “I promised that I would only compete with variety figures in variety, and build up a variety Yoon Jong Shin completely different from the musician Yoon Jong Shin.”
