Minzy and Si Wan, the Less Popular Members?
There are groups, and then there are those groups’ members. Just because a group is popular, it doesn’t mean that all of the members of that group are equally popular. Sad, but true.
And so, the February 14 broadcast of Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News put together a list of those members who are relatively less well-known among the public compared to the other members in their groups.
16 idol group members, including SHINee’s Key, B2ST’s Dong Woon, miss A’s Jia, Teen Top’s L.Joe, Infinite’s Dong Woo, CN Blue’s Jung Shin and T-ara’s Qri will be appearing on the list.
But it’s probably safe to say now that Im Si Wan, who will also be appearing on the list, is well on his way to escaping the list.
Im recently saw a rapid rise in his popularity through his role as Heo Yeom in MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, but before, few knew he even existed because he was shrouded by his other members, such as Kwang Hee with his plastic surgery confessions and the ‘Han Ga In look-alike’ Dong Jun. Im is well-known as a flower boy now, but in the past he had to fight for attention by dressing up as a woman or donning other weird costumes.
But way back when, Im was still like an unpolished gem who showed potential for success. Photos from his childhood reveal that he was born a handsome flower boy. Im is also the brain of the group, boasting great academic credentials as a student of Pusan National University’s mechanical engineering major.
2NE1’s Gong Minzy was also relatively less popular compared to her fellow members Sandara Park, Park Bom and CL. She initially gathered interest as the niece of the traditional dancer Gong Ok Jin and was often described as a look-alike with comedian Oh Na Mi and Big Bang’s Daesung.
But the youngest member has recently started to shine. Her voice deepens every year to match the big leaps she′s taken with her dance, and her rapid rap verses are becoming ever more sensational, showing how much she’s matured musically.
The rest of the list will be released on the broadcast of Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News, but don’t worry if your idol makes it into the list; we’re sure they’re plenty happy with the big love you’re sending them.
