Why Wasn′t Lee Seung Gi or miss A′s Suzy in ′Gu Family Book′s′ First Episode?
MBC′s Gu Family Book finally aired on April 8 to much anticipation, but its first episode got viewers wondering on where all the leads are.
Those viewers who know what the story is about wouldn′t have been that confused, but those who tuned in without much background information showed they were curious on where Lee Seung Gi and miss A′s Suzy had gone.
Lee Seung Gi did appear in the preview that aired after the broadcast for about a second, but not a glimpse of him could be found in the main episode.
The actor′s absence can be explained by the nature of the drama′s story. Choi Kang Chi, played by Lee Seung Gi, is a half-man half-beast, and the plot had to explain how he ended up this way by telling the story of his parents′ generation. Thus, the first episode was mostly about the meeting between the guardian of Jirisan, Gu Wol Ryong (Choi Jin Hyuk) and human Yoon Seo Hwa (Lee Yeon Hee), who later become Choi Kang Chi′s parents.
A drama official said, "Lee Seung Gi and Suzy will set off on their story from the third episode. The first and second episodes will be devoted to Choi Kang Chi′s parents, and the third episode will be about Choi Kang Chi."
Lee Seung Gi, however, may be appearing here and there, at least in the previews.
"Since Choi Kang Chi is the main character leading the story, he will be appearing in some parts," the official hinted.
Gu Family Book is about how Choi Kang Chi strives to become human. Its script is by screenwriter Kang Eun Kyung of Man of Honor and Baker King, Kim Tak Goo, while it is being directed by producer Shin Woo Chul of A Gentleman′s Dignity and Secret Garden.
