[Interview] ZE:A′s Dong Jun On Why He Took His Role in ′First Lady′
ZE:A′s Dong Jun will be joining the film First Lady. It will be his second silver screen endeavour.
Why, then, did he decide to take on another big screen role, especially in a film under such political controversy?
Enews called the singer up to find out.
Dong Jun said in the phone conversation, "I wanted to take the role because he was a character that gave his all to protect the country and the First Lady. I especially liked the role because he was supposed to be a soldier. Of course I have to enlist soon or later, and I′m especially happy about the role because I′ve dreamed of being a soldier or policeman since I was little."
On April 4, First Lady′s production company and Star Empire had announced that Kim Dong Jun plans to join the film.
The singer will appear as the bodyguard of the late Yuk Young Soo, First Lady to former President Park Chung Hee. The role is based on a real figure, and protects Yuk Young Soo with the strength of his soldier background.
The role is his second full-length movie role since A Company Man.
"I′m so thankful people are still seeking me as an actor," Dong Jun said. "I′m especially pressured because I′ll be acting in a role based on a real figure. I want to work hard because it′s a story not very well known among those around my age."
He said about his aims in serving for the country, "I don′t want to do as everyone else does since I have to go anyway. I′ve said this before, but I really want to enlist with the Marine Corps. If any officials from the Corps gets to watch the film, I hope they let me in without an interview."
He also commented on the debates surrounding his acting skills, "I know many are worried. I think viewers were let down because I didn′t get to prepare much for KBS2′s Love and War. I′ll show you a different side of me this time."
"I know I have to work harder than anyone else," he said. "I′ll practice hard and try to build teamwork quickly with my seniors so that I won′t disappoint."
