Jung Il Woo Promotes ’49 Days’ in Japan with Fanmeeting
Jung Il Woo spent some quality time with his Japanese fans for a 49 Days promotion event.
Jung left for Japan to promote the SBS drama 49 Days on February 3. He attended the main event of the drama’s line of promotion, the 49 Days fanmeeting in Tokyo, to meet with 2,000 fans.
Jung tried on a new type of image with his scheduler/Grim Reaper role in 49 Days last year, and the character managed not only to become popular in Korea, but also in Japan. As soon as Jung appeared onstage, the fans showed their support with cheers and applause.
In the three hour event, Jung talked about things that happened while he was shooting the drama and how he felt about the piece. He also gave his fans something to remember with a talk session and a quiz event, and sang Scarecrow, the song from the 49 Days OST that he sang himself. Near the end of the event he tried to meet his fans up close by high-fiving all of the 2,000 fans gathered in the venue.
Although he had stayed up for many nights before the event to shoot MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, he shone with a bright smile on his face and perfect stage manners.
Jung showed he was sorry he wasn’t able to stay longer than two days because of the filming schedule for The Sun and the Moon, and promised his fans that he would be visiting Japan again sometime soon.
The Sun and the Moon, however, seemed to be already popular among Japanese fans, and his previous piece, tvN’s Cool Guys, Hot Ramen, is also following suit after it began airing on Mnet Japan. As such, many local media outlets and fans had their attention trained on Jung’s visit to Japan.
After returning from his Japan promotion, Jung said, “I was surprised and happy to see that 49 Days was more popular than I thought it would be. I’m thankful that they sent in so much support even though I didn’t get to prepare much because of the filming for my current drama. It was a short meeting, but I hope I’ll be able to meet them again soon.”
