CONFESSIONS! CONFESSIONS EVERYWHERE!
Can we just let out a sigh of relief because we’ve finally got what we’ve been waiting for!

And the good thing is that it’s not just the romantic kinds, but the honest kind-of-hurts-my-feelings-but-I-needed-to-hear-that kind of confessions.

Everyone in this episode was bit by the honest bug and truthfully said what was on their minds to each other, allowing them to understand each other, rather than just basing it off from what they’ve seen so far.

At the fansigning, Enrique lingers, until he decides to give free hugs.

While getting squashed left and right by avid fans, Enrique’s focus still remains on the Van Gogh exhibit poster on the way.

Jin Rak is on cloud 9, replaying the moment Dok Mi asked him out on the ‘date.’ It’s not until he sees the ridiculous hairstyle Dong Hoon gave him does Jin Rak snap out of it.

We return to Gwanghwamun Square, where both stalker fan with a guitar and stalker ajumma in black watch Enrique from afar.

Moments later, Enrique gets pushed into the street and Dok Mi gets a paper cut.

Amongst the crowd, Enrique sees Dok Mi crying. He asks why Dok Mi is
there, since she should be at the exhibit with Jin Rak.

He starts to smile. “I must have fallen in love.”

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

At the exhibit, Jin Rak quietly directs other people away to prevent Dok Mi from getting distracted, but she already is, because in her head, Enrique appears, telling her how much he likes Van Gogh.

Enrique talks about how Van Gogh wrote to his brother that he’s trying to recover and tells Dok Mi to repeat after him. Dok Mi rolls her eyes and walks away. Enrique continues to float around, annoying Dok Mi, until she turns, and in place of Enrique is Jin Rak.

As Dok Mi directs her attention at the paintings, Jin Rak focuses in on Dok Mi’s hand. Hesitantly, he reaches for his hand, but fidgets before he can actually grab her hand. The look of determination is written on his face, but he pulls back quickly when Dok Mi starts talking.

She asks Jin Rak if he knows what Van Gogh wrote to his brother about.

His eyes still latched onto to the prize – “I want to hold your hand.”
Jin Rak cups his mouth in shock and Dok Mi stares at him, surprise. But she replies that he’s right. Whaa?

“Sending a handshake, from your brother,” adds Dok Mi. “The desire to hold his brother’s hand with the hand that paints –“

Dok Mi freezes. It finally hits her and she brings her free hand away from Jin Rak. He excuses himself, saying he wants to go see a different painting.

Meanwhile, Enrique’s fans frantically write online that Enrique has been taken to the hospital after being pushed into the street.

Do Hui, Ryu, and Dong Hoon read that Enrique’s condition is severe. Since Do Hui’s not on speaking terms with Dok Mi since the party (or high school), Dong Hoon volunteers to let Jin Rak know.

It’s then when Do Hui finds out that Jin Rak and Dok Mi are on a date. Do Hui freaks out, badmouthing Dok Mi out of habit, until she notices Dong Hoon and Ryu are still there.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Back at the museum, Dok Mi tells Jin Rak more about Van Gogh and his brother, as heard from a friend. Jin Rak’s loving gaze falls, stating that he knows who that friend is.

A weird awkwardness falls between the two and they take a seat on a bench. Trying to brighten the mood, Jin Rak says it’s been awhile since he’s left the apartment too and that Dok Mi is not the weird one. The apartment’s to blame.

Dok Mi replies that her life was not uncomfortable at all. She also didn’t know Jin Rak was leaving her notes with her milk. Jin Rak tells her that there will be more to come, but Dok Mi looks away before facing Jin Rak again.

“Can you…stop now?”

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Jin Rak’s face falls as Dok Mi says she’s moving. Jin Rak knows.

He shares that whenever he received a large present, something bad happened and he became sad.

“So when you invited me to the exhibit, I was really happy, but I had a thought, ‘Ah~ this is a present. She’s trying to say her last farewell.’”

Are those tears glistening in his eyes?

Ever the gentleman, Jin Rak says it’s okay as long as it makes Dok Mi comfortable. He quickly wipes his tears away as Dok Mi avoids looking at him.

Jin Rak asks if Dok Mi’s moving away because of him and insists that he can just watch from afar like the past three years.

He wonders if it’s because of the trace Enrique left behind. “Do you just want to hide in a place where you didn’t meet him?”

Hesitantly, Dok Mi reveals her dreams of doing everything she wanted for one year – the determination just came sooner than usual.

Just then, Jin Rak receives word on what happened to Enrique.

A moment of shock washes over Jin Rak’s face as he turns to Dok Mi.
After a bit of contemplation, Jin Rak tells Dok Mi that Enrique’s at the hospital and may be in critical condition.

Shocked, Dok Mi stumbles for her phone to check, but Jin Rak stops her as she weakly falls onto the bench.

On the way to the hospital, Dok Mi prays as Jin Rak watches on, sadly.

Reporters flood the hospital as Jin Rak and Dok Mi arrive. They’re stopped by a doctor, but Jin Rak lies that they’re from Enrique’s company and sends Dok Mi in.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Creeping into the emergency room, Dok Mi hears Enrique’s name being called and sees the doctors frantically trying to help someone. There’s a lot of bloody towels everywhere, and Dok Mi regrets what she said about not wanting to throw the dice anymore and remembers how Enrique doesn’t hear her thoughts anymore.

But then, Enrique steps out from behind the curtains to gravely stare at the patient the doctors are working on.

Dok Mi becomes overwhelmed with relief.

Enrique cries to the patient, who turns out to be the stalker ajumma, asking why she did what she did. The stalker fan is there as well, crying that Enrique get treated for his hand.

They pass Dok Mi on their way out and she’s left with a tinge of disappointment.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Dok Mi returns to Jin Rak to update him on Enrique’s status.

Looking straight into Dok Mi’s eyes, Jin Rak says he’s going to turn his back on her this once, and urges her to go be by Enrique’s side. Awww.

But no cigar next time.

True to his word, Jin Rak quickly walks away, leaving Dok Mi alone.

Enrique gets treated for his wrist, but all he wants to know is the condition of the ajumma.

He visits her hospital room, and upon seeing his face, she turns away.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

After sitting in silence, Enrique gets up to leave when ajumma pipes up in anger that it’s been five years since she talked to her son because he’s addicted to Enrique’s games. Ah, well that makes all the sense in the world…though it doesn′t excuse attempted murder.

She grips Enrique’s collar and screams that people like Enrique should not exist in this world.

Just then, ajumma’s son rushes into the room, yelling that his mom has gone absolutely crazy. Enrique quietly takes the son outside of the hospital room, when he runs into Dok Mi.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Although surprised to see her, Enrique focuses on the son.

The son tries to apologize for his mom’s actions and tells Enrique to press charges.

Enrique snaps, asking if the son is a game addict, but the son argues that he’s not. He merely wants to be a video game creator like Enrique, who can make people happy. Enrique argues that the son can’t even make the person that loves him happy, so how can he possibly make games?

“It’s something you can only make if you love someone.”

The son becomes speechless, as Dok Mi asks the mom if she knew her son wanted to create games. The mom did not.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

“There are some things you can’t find from other people – reasons for pain, anger, sadness.” She urges the mom to find them with her son and reassures her that Enrique is someone who wants people to be happy.

Enrique enters the room, saying she doesn’t want to be a good person to the mom. If she wants to continue being unhappy, she can continue terrorizing him, but if she wants to be happy, she should play his games at least once, asking her son for help.

“I’m not asking you to like my games but I’m asking you to understand your son, who likes my games.”

The mother falls into deep shame as Enrique continues that love is getting to know that person. It seems to hit home for Dok Mi as well.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Back at Ocean Village, Do Hui packs a meal for Jin Rak, still determined to steal his heart.

Dong Hoon receives a message from his mother, asking if he can pay for the hospital and rent bills, including living expenses.

The sums only make Dong Hoon let out a what-am-I-going-to-do sigh.

Ryu asks if it’s a bad message and Dong Hoon confirms. He starts to ask Do Hui to raise modeling fees, when she’s distracted by Jin Rak’s entrance.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

One look at Do Hui makes Jin Rak walk away in annoyance.

Do Hui chases after, asking to talk, but before Do Hui can say anything, Jin Rak lists off all the excuses that Do Hui would say.

Angrily, Jin Rak finally breaks it to her that she’s not his type from all angles.

He turns to his door, when Do Hui grabs his arm, tears dropping from her eyes. She actually looks sincerely hurt for once.

She says he’s being too much and Jin Rak sighs, telling her to come back when she’s ready to say everything honestly.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

In the car ride back home, Dok Mi asks Enrique if he’s in pain. He is, but it’s not his wrist.

The ajumma must have regretted it as soon as she pushed him in to the street, because she ended up pushing him out of the way and getting hit instead.

“That pains my heart a lot.”

In a rare moment when Enrique is down in the dumps, he bid Dok Mi good night and starts to walk to his apartment, head hanging in sorrow.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

But when Dok Mi reaches her apartment door, she notices that a sad puppy has followed her home. Dok Mi quietly invites him in and Enrique obeys.

Inside, she hands him the remote to watch soccer as she prepares dinner. Noticing he’s still feeling a dark shade of blue, Dok Mi reassures him that more people smile because of his games.

“When people aren’t able to handle their hardships, they try to find the reason from someone else, because it’s easier,” says Dok Mi. “People are weak, you know?”

Enrique receives a call from Seo Young, after hearing about the news. He asks if she can go check on his parents and make sure they’re okay.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

He hangs up the phone, when he notices all the packed books on the floor. When asked about it, she replies that she’s just organizing some stuff.

Dok Mi changes the topic, apologizing for making him return because of her.

Instead of reminding her of his dislike of apologies, Enrique asks, “Do you really think I’m a good person?” He quickly says forget it, also changing the subject to Dok Mi’s room.

He understands why Dok Mi wants to say inside so much. He wants to too, so that he wouldn’t have to go through this again.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

In room 401, Dong Hoon delivers Do Hui’s packed meal, which Jin Rak rejects. Irked, Dong Hoon asks if he’s hurting because of Dok Mi, because Do Hui is hurting just as much.

Realizing he should be worrying more for himself, Dong Hoon carefully tells Jin Rak that he has to drop out of the webtoon project, because the uncomfortable truth is that he’s not a conglomerate’s son who ran away from home to achieve his dreams and he has ends he has to meet.

Jin Rak gets up from his seat and tells Dong Hoon to follow him up to the rooftop. (Dong Hoon asks if he’s getting beat up. Haha)

As Dong Hoon gets dragged out, Soon Chul brings Jung Im her mail – all letters from different corporations (Hrmm).

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Inside room 402, Enrique gives Dok Mi a thumb up for the food, making Dok Mi smile.

Carefully, Dok Mi suggests that Enrique hold a lecture for people like the ajumma and her son. Enrique wonders if hearing him speak will make things better, but Dok Mi says it did for her.

She says if Enrique can show that he cares, those people will find comfort.

Enrique doesn’t say anything, but peers intently at Dok Mi, causing her to become flustered. She starts to gobble up her food and Enrique smiles, putting his finger on her forehead.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

“Eat slowly and deliciously.” says Enrique with a smile. Is it because he’s worried that she’ll choke or does he want to make dinner time last longer? Hehe.

After dinner, Dok Mi gets on her computer and organizes all of her thoughts and emotions of the day.

“Because people are not machines or toys made in a factor, they are special and complicated.
The uses, the colors of the heart, the scents, even the pressure points or weaknesses that can hurt with the slightest touch, are different.
You must watch for awhile - a long time, before you can barely sketch out the outline of that person.
So that girl didn’t believe in fateful love.
She didn’t believe it.”

Dok Mi glances over to Enrique who is watching his game being played on TV. His face falls at the screen, and Dok Mi lets out a sigh.

It’s not the rooftop that Jin Rak takes Dong Hoon, but to the webtoon company. Dong Hoon slips out of the building.

For once, the editor’s content with Jin Rak’s time of arrival (just finished up her instant noodle dinner), but still dissatisfied with the lack of ratings for the webtoon, despite many girls hooked on it. (How meta.)

She raises her voice because she’s being asked questions about love – which is something she knows nothing about. Her frustrated cries cause the entire office to get up and stare.

Jin Rak lets out a sigh and asks if he can give the editor a tip on dating. Interested, the editor leans in.

“Lower your voice,” whispers Jin Rak, causing the editor to lean in closer to hear him. “If you lower your voice, the person will have to get closer to hear you.”

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Instead of the rosy scent, Jin Rak takes a giant whiff of her unwashed hair enters his nostrils. The editor starts jotting down notes (can we get a copy of that?) when suddenly, a gift bag appears in front of her.

It’s Dong Hoon, who scolds Jin Rak that a present is needed when showing up unannounced.

Surprised, the editor whispers to herself, wondering if it’s because she signed for his loan.

All of the sudden, Dong Hoon leans in, asking what she said.

With angelic music in the background, the editor excitedly whispers behind the bag that the system works as Jin Rak nods his head in approval.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Bringing the focus back to the webtoon, Jin Rak tells the editor that they should change the name of the webtoon author to Dong Hoon, surprising both Dong Hoon and the editor.

It’s only right, because Dong Hoon has been drawing more and more.

Dong Hoon and Jin Rak share a dramatic bromance moment with tears, as Dong Hoon says he can’t, but Jin Rak reassures him.

The editor slams her desk to cut the documentary, and sends the boys away to figure it out. She whispers it, causing both boys to lean in to hear her.

She tells Jin Rak to go, but holds Dong Hoon back (he mouths to Jin Rak not to go).

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

The editor complains about her bigger dark circles from having nightmares after signing onto Dong Hoon’s debt. Dong Hoon asks her to believe that he’ll pay her back, but in the meantime, to allow her to be at peace, Dong Hoon promises to do everything she wants – except date.

The editor bitterly gets upset, making Dong Hoon sigh.

Putting on an adorable puppy face, Dong Hoon holds the editor’s hands in his and asks her to call whenever she has a nightmare.

It’s enough to completely sweep the editor off her feet.

She whispers, “Okay,” making Dong Hoon lean in to hear. When he does, he smiles sweetly. We love this couple in the making.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Back in room 402, Enrique is still depressed and Dok Mi still worried, when she receives a call from the real estate agent about moving.

After the call, she turns around to find Enrique glaring at her.

He angrily asks if Jin Rak also knows if she’s moving and finally understands why she went to the exhibit with Jin Rak.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Enrique accuses Dok Mi of being a hypocrite of her own words, saying she’s running away from the very people who are causing her pain and hurt.

Nothing has changed about her, even though she said she was comforted from Enrique’s lectures.

When Dok Mi doesn’t say anything, Enrique confesses that he saw her at the scene of the accident.

“I thought maybe you might like me even just a little…but I guess I was wrong,” says Enrique. “I’ll stop here. I’ll disappear. So don’t hide or run away.”

He regrets that he’s only leaving Dok Mi unhappiness and wonders if he can go back his old self again.

Enrique apologizes to Dok Mi and says good bye.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Suddenly, Dok Mi walks up to him frantically, telling him to go back to his past talkative, smiling, honest, and warm self.

With tears glistening in her eyes, she confesses that she was really hurt when he suddenly announced that he was returning to Spain.

“I thought my heart wouldn’t get hurt again. I hid my feelings saying that this person is annoying and wishing he would go away, but I liked you. I liked you a lot.”

Enrique turns around and they look at each other with tears in their eyes.

Dok Mi tells Enrique to return to his old self before leaving. He just needs to forget everything that happened and step out of the door.

With a smile on her face, she adds, “I’ll do the same. I’ll go out through that door and live well.”

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

Enrique steps closer to Enrique as tears pour from both of their eyes.

“I hear it again – the voice of your heart.”

Dok Mi looks up and Enrique leans in for a tear-filled kiss.

Thoughts

Hurray for honesty!
Hurray for Dok Mi for finally admitting to her feelings and telling Enrique exactly what he’s been waiting to hear.

Dok Mi was on a roll today.
It’s like she took a courage pill and decided to spill out all of her honest feelings in one episode.

There’s a nice sense of closure for Jin Rak’s one-sided romance with Dok Mi. Although we have a feeling that it’ll take a while before Jin Rak gets over Dok Mi (maybe he won’t), Jin Rak knows what Dok Mi wants and he’ll definitely try his best not to make her uncomfortable.

The sad part is that he delivers the same message to Do Hui, but in a completely opposite manner. We actually felt bad for Do Hui in that scene, because while she might be fake on the outside, she did really fall in love with him at first sight, and to hear your crush say such rash things must be completely heartbreaking.

[Recap: Flower Boys Next Door] Episode 11 – Could I Be My Past Self Again?

We loved the ajumma and son storyline because it coincided with how Jin Rak sees Dok Mi. The ajumma thought she knew her son based on how he acted – playing games all days automatically makes you into a game addict, but it turned out that she didn’t even know that his son was an aspiring video game creator.

It’s the same with Jin Rak, who believes he knows all about Dok Mi because he’s spied on her for the past three years, but when he finally gets to sit down and talk to her, it’s Dok Mi asking him to stop.

Even Enrique realized that Dok Mi isn’t everything that she appears to be. There’s more to her story and the boys are just inching in to learn about her. (In fact, everyone in this drama are starting to open up about their little secrets)

But, we don’t think that even Dok Mi has herself figured out yet. She’s stuck in self-created limbo, but the good news is that these two boys in her life are helping her figure it out as she learns a bit more about herself in the process.

Now that honest feelings are out in the open, we’re expecting a whole bunch of cute between our Que Mi couple….and perhaps depression from Jin Rak’s side.
