2AM made a successful debut in Japan by making it onto the no. 3 spot of Oricon’s Weekly Chart.

Oricon reported on January 16 that 2AM’s Japan debut single album Never Let You Go came in third on the weekly chart on the first week it was released.

2AM Ranks No. 3 on Oricon’s Weekly Chart

Never Let You Go is the Japanese version of 2AM’s original hit Even If I Die, I Can’t Send You, which was already popular among Japanese fans before its release in Japan. The single also managed to top Tower Records’ advance sales chart.

After its release on January 11, 2AM held an event for the single on January 15 in Kanagawa. Around 10,000 fans crowded the venue to see the group perform.

2AM sang Never Let You Go, along with a rearrangement of Toshinobu Kubota’s Missing.

The success of 2AM quelled concerns that it would be difficult for anyone to make a success in Japan only with song, and the group joined the ranks of popular performance-oriented hallyu stars with their ballads.

2AM will also be holding its first Japan tour, the 2AM 1st Japan Tour 2012, starting on January 24 in Nagoya.
