Psy Wins Three Awards in France and Will Perform for Korea′s Next President
Psy has been proving the Gangnam Style rave is far from over.
On January 27 (KST), Psy appeared at the NRJ Music Awards 2013 and won a Special Award, as his single Gangnam Style also became the International Song of the Year and its music video became the Clip of the Year.
His song had been nominated as International Revelation of the Year, International Song of the Year and Clip of the Year, and managed to win in two of the categories.
The Special Award isn′t an official category, but he was able to win it thanks to the popularity of Gangnam Style in France.
The singer walked the red carpet with such prominent pop stars as Alicia Keys, Carly Rae Jepsen and Taylor Swift. He sang Gangnam Style on the red carpet as the last artist, then followed up his appearance with an opening performance for the ceremony.
He tweeted in excitement after the ceremony, "I′m speechless...I won 3 #NRJMusicAwards!!! Merci FRACE [sic.]!!!"
The singer will be returning home on February 25 to perform at the inaugural ceremony for the Korean President-elect, Park Geun Hye.
A source close to Psy told enews, "He decided to make an appearance as it′s an international event. Any specific schedules or which songs he will sing haven′t been confirmed yet. He′s just decided to appear as of now."
