Super Junior Crowned Album King in Taiwan
Super Junior proved it deserved the Grand Prize it won in the 2011 Golden Disk Awards by topping album charts in Taiwan.
Super Junior’s fifth studio album Mr. Simple and fourth studio album Bonamana came in first and second in both the album and digital downloads sections of the 2011 Korean Music Chart ranked by the Taiwanese music website KKBOX.
Bonamana, the group’s title song from its fourth album, recorded the most consecutive no. 1 wins on KKBOX, 63 weeks in a row, and the fifth album’s title song Mr. Simple is following suit by topping the charts for 21 weeks in a row. This means that the group hasn’t come down from the website’s no. 1 spot since June 2010.
Mr. Simple also topped the yearly Korean-Japanese album chart from Taiwan’s album shop chain Kuangnan, proving the deep devotion of the group’s fans.
Moreover, on the shop’s Chinese chart, Super Junior’s Chinese unit group Super Junior-M came in second with its second mini album Too Perfect, standing shoulder to shoulder with local top stars such as Luo Zhi Xiang at first place and Jay Chou at third.
Some of the other awards Super Junior won at the 26th Golden Disk Awards in Osaka include the Bonsang, the Popularity Award and the MSN Japan Award.
