Lee Hyori Ruffled by Politican’s Statement
Lee Hyori showed she was thoroughly ruffled by the statement made by Assemblywoman Jun Yeo Ok.
Jun, an assemblywoman from the Grand National Party, posted on her official webpage, “Celebrities that suddenly become stars start using drugs or commit suicide. This youth may have to encounter unfortunate events that follow success as he has become a member of the Emergency Committee, which can be said to be the highest status in the ruling party, at age 26.” ‘This youth’ was meant to target Assemblyman Lee Jun Suk, member of the Emergency Committee of the Grand National Party.
The quote stirred up a great controversy, bringing editor Kim Hyun Sung of Oh Boy Magazine to tweet on January 5,“There are only people who we are not only brought to doubt their qualities as a politician, but also their qualities as human beings. I don’t know why politicians work so hard to become objects of ridicule.”
Lee Hyori added to the tweet by commenting,“I′ll live long not doing bad things or thinking bad thoughts. I don’t like such statements.” She also added in a new tweet, “I was never unknown in my career as a celebrity; what’ll happen to me? Am I cursed?”
A majority of Twitter users are showing their support for Lee Hyori’s statements, while they’re remaining critical of Jun’s.
