Actor Kim Sang Kyung will be appearing as the first guest of 2012 on tvN’s comedy show Saturday Night Live Korea (SNLK).

Kim chose SNLK as his first public appearance; though Kim rarely appears in variety programs, on SNLK he plans to show off all of the humor he has and leave a different impression in the eyes of his viewers.

Kim will be shedding the upright and serious image he always used to sport in films and dramas for a more comic version of himself through weird costumes and comical acting scenes. He warned that he would be continuously transforming into different characters in the 70 minute long show with the 4-5 live sketches and the pre-recorded digital shorts.

The producers of the show said, “The shocking transformations of Kim Sang Kyung, never seen before, will shock you and make you laugh. Kim Sang Kyung even showed he was really passionate by thinking up weird sketches and costumes for himself. We think he’s aiming to be the new variety trend in 2012.”

They added, “Kim Sang Kyung burned with a great passion after meeting with director Jang Jin, who’s in charge of the script and directing. He surprised everyone.”

Kim was also quoted by the producers to have said, “I always hear that I’m funny from the people around me. I’ll pour out the talent that I had hidden inside.”

“Because it’s a comedy show and it airs live, I feel more pressure, but I’m also tense and I’m looking forward to the lively live broadcast,” Kim was said to have added. “I’ll throw everything off and enjoy myself. Please look forward to the Saturday night I’ll present to you, in which we’ll be able to laugh loudly and enjoy ourselves.”

SNLK is the Korean version of America’s most popular variety show Saturday Night Live and is making issues in Korea for the transformations undertaken by its guests and its sharp and humorous jabs at current issues. Director Jang Jin is in charge of the directing and script for the sketches, while a 16 member standard crew appears every week to provide more laughter to the show’s viewers.
