Judges Divided Again on ‘K-Pop Star’; Will She Make It?
Yang Hyun Suk of YG Entertainment and Park Jin Young of JYP Entertainment again couldn’t seem to bring themselves to agree with each other on a certain contestant.
Perhaps just a case of different styles? The two CEOs were conflicted once again on the December 18 broadcast of SBS’ audition program K-Pop Star about a 19 year old French female contestant.
BoA, the other judge for the show, showed a great interest in the boyish girl by telling her that “she sort of feels like f(x)’s Amber.”
Yang and Park though, gave conflicting reviews on the girl, who said she dreams of becoming a singer in Korea. They were also similarly divided after Lee Michelle’s performance aired on December 11.
This contestant is gathering attention as the only entirely foreign contestant. Though the show held overseas auditions in five countries around the world, including cities like Argentina, L.A. and New York, the only other foreign contestant was the half-Korean Michael Ryan, an American who spoke Korean, Japanese and Chines.
The K-Pop Star producers stated, “Please look forward as to whether this next Amber, with her unique charms, will be able to move her stage from Montmarte to Korea.”
The winner of K-Pop Star will be given 300 million won in prize money, a chance to release a worldwide album and a car.
