We’re five days closer to the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) since we last touched base with you in terms of the rankings, and here are a few things we think you should know.

Super Junior has proved that the votes can change at any moment, having surpassed its competition in two more categories in just five days, putting the idol group in the lead to take home a total of five awards at this year’s MAMA.

[MAMA] D-15 Rankings: Super Junior Takes Over Two More Categories and Are More Men Voting?

As of November 15, the rankings show that Super Junior has toppled labelmate TVXQ, who was in the lead five days ago, in the Best Global Group - Male category, with 41.5 percent of the votes and surged ahead of SHINee in the Best Dance Performance - Male Group with 40.3 percent of the votes.

Meanwhile, JYP & Gain have blown past D-20 leader Trouble Maker within the last few days to take the top spot in the current rankings for the Best Collaboration Performance category with 31.1 percent of the votes as Trouble Maker trails behind with 27.9 percent of votes.

So, we know all of you are fervently voting for your favorite idol stars, but where are the votes coming from, exactly?

As of November 15, more than 16.3 million votes have been cast for this year’s MAMA, the majority of which have been coming from K-Pop fans in China, followed by Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan and the U.S.

You may have noticed the gender breakdown of the votes per nominee on the MAMA voting page. Many have you have also pointed out (and been surprised) that many men appear to be voting, and you’re right!

While there are more female voters overall, China is the exception, as 1.3 million more men have voted than women in the country.

Out of the 8.1 million MAMA voters in China, men currently account for more than half of the votes, as current data shows there are 4.7 million male voters participating in the MAMA polls to the 3.4 million female voters.

For comparison, MAMA has drawn close to 4.5 million voters in Southeast Asia, but 3.2 million are women and 1.3 million are men.

SImilarly, the 700,000-plus female voters overwhelm the 200,000-plus male voters in Korea, and in Japan, there are more than 450,000 female voters to the 97,000 male voters. In the U.S., more than 300,000 voters are female, while 155,000 voters are male.
