DBSK Makes over 1 Billion Yen From Concert DVD in Japan This Year

DBSK’s TOSHOSHINKI Live Tour 2012-TONE concert DVD was a huge success this year and now Oricon has recently revealed just how successful it was.

The Japanese music business analysis company, Oricon Biz Online, recently gave its report on the Japanese music industry and market for the third quarter. According to its findings, DBSK (TVXQ) and AKB48 are the only two artists who have produced video and music DVDs this year that have made profits of over a billion yen.

TOSHOSHINKI Live Tour 2012-TONE concert DVD was released earlier this year containing performances and footage from the group’s Tokyo Dome Concert and had also placed first on the daily DVD compilation and weekly chart.

Just a year before, in 2011, no artist had achieved this feat.

The Oricon Biz Online also pointed out sales of video media (such as DVDs and Blu-Ray discs) saw an increase of 36.2 percent from the previous year showing a trend of growing interest in video media in Japan.
