Here’s our weekly roundup of the news that made headlines last week.
1. 2011 Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA)
The MAMA seems like it was ages ago already, but it was one of the major events of last week. If we’re going to get technical, the MAMA isn’t a celebrity, but it makes our list this week because it definitely drew a lot of big names out to Singapore this year. Here’s a quick and dirty recap of the night’s highlights if you were living under a rock last week: Girls’ Generation took home Album of the Year, Trouble Makers Jang Hyun Seung and Hyuna kissed, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre mixed it up with some old school smashes, while 2NE1’s CL took to the stage with will.i.am. We also have red carpet styles, clips of all of the performances from the night and the full list of winners.
2. Trouble Maker
B2ST’s Jang Hyun Seung and 4minute’s Hyuna make up the duo Trouble Maker, and they’ve wasted no time in stirring up some trouble on stage. Not only did they shock fans with a kiss performance during the MAMA, their chemistry in the music video for single Trouble Maker has been turning heads. Some are even saying Hyuna is ′the next Lee Hyori.′ What do you guys think?
3. Lee Hyori
Speaking of Lee Hyori, the singer made headlines last week for revealing she is dating musician and former Rollercoaster member Lee Sang Soon. Her rumored “husband” Kim Dong Ryul has even given the relationship his stamp of approval.
4. Jung Il Woo
The actor, who has been melting hearts in tvN’s Cool Guys, Hot Ramen, recently sat down for an exclusive interview with enews to talk about wanting to be taken seriously as an actor. He takes his job seriously and dresses well. And that smile. Oh, that smile. What more could a girl ask for?
Stars Falling Flat
1. DJ DOC
DJ DOC member Kim Chang Ryul attended a police investigation on November 29 for the slander suit filed against him and fellow member Lee Ha Neul by former member Park Hung Hwan, while Lee Ha Neul was summoned on December 2. Let’s hope the legal drama ends soon.
2. Female Celebrity Offered Illegal Loan
Another celebrity scandal made headlines last week when reports surfaced last week asserting that a business man took out illegal loans to purchase a car for an unidentified female celebrity and to pay for her rent. The 53-year-old man was taken into custody and investigations are currently underway.
3. Lee Sung Jin
The singer was put in court custody on December 2, however, the judge pushed back his sentence once again to give Lee Sung Jin more time to repay his debt. This is the third time his sentencing has been postponed since being charged with fraud and illegal gambling last year. Is the singer just trying his luck or do you feel bad for the guy?
4. Cha Tae Hyun
The actor made a surprise cameo appearance on MBC drama Light and Shadow as a drunkard, but no one noticed, proving that even top stars can get overshadowed sometimes.
