JYJ′s Kim Junsu Wins Best Actor Award at ′The Korea Musical Awards′
JYJ′s Kim Junsu won an award for Best Actor three years into his musical career.
At The 18th Korea Musical Awards held on October 29, Kim Junsu won the Popular Star Award three years in a row and also won an award for Best Actor for his most recent piece Elisabeth.
Kim Junsu debuted as a musical actor after leaving TVXQ (DBSK), and was immediately recognized for his talent, receiving two Rookie Awards in that year. His run of Elisabeth especially broke numerous records, selling out its tickets for all 32 performances in just 10 minutes.
JYJ, currently unable to appear on televised music shows due to issues with its agency, made its way into the business through dramas and musicals. Because of this, Kim Junsu′s Best Actor Award means much for him and his group.
The singer seemed to be at a loss for words as the tears streamed down his cheeks, but he then brought himself together and said, "Actually musicals mean more to me than just the musicals themselves. Musicals helped me stand on stage again, helped me sing again, got me invited to such ceremonies and gave me awards I never thought I would win."
He then thanked his agency C-JeS, his fellow JYJ members and everyone who had helped him mature as a musical actor.
After the broadcast of the ceremony, Kim Junsu tweeted for his fans, "I promise I′ll become an actor who always works harder. I want to dedicate this award to my fans, who walked every step with me in every moment so that I wouldn′t be lonely. I love you, and I thank you."
Kim Junsu has successfully performed in an Asia tour, traveling through Seoul, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Shanghai and Hong Kong for his first solo album Tarantallegra. He has also performed in five other cities in the Americas, and plans to wrap up his world tour with a concert in Germany on November 30.
