Park Han Byul shared her feelings on taking on the role of female soldier for general service channel MBN’s upcoming sitcom, Bolder By the Day at a press conference for the show, held on November 29 in Seoul. Other cast members, including Park Hae Mi, Kang Ji Seop, Lee Jae Yong, and Yun Ju Hee also attended the press conference.

When asked how she felt about playing a role of female soldier, Park answered, “I realized for the first time how severe the hardships that males have to undergo in the military are.”

She continued, “While filming, I went through difficulties to a point where I was unable to walk because the soldier′s kit was too heavy. I felt proud of Korean men.”

Park took on a role of a second lieutenant, who had just been commissioned, in her first sitcom.

Lee Jae Yong who will be acting as Park’s father said, “Park Han Byul often said, ‘I’m happy because I’m a woman’ during filming. She looked a little awkward acting a soldier, but now she is so strictly disciplined that I even feel scared.”

Park also said that military terms and the way of talking in the military were harder than she expected. “When you wear military uniform, you have to follow complicated rules that you must not tie tight here and tie tight there,” she said. “But I really wanted to play a role of an easy-going person, so I’m really happy with being cast in the sitcom.”

Meanwhile, Bolder By the Day will be centered on military life and will share stories that might be experienced by soldiers from all military strata.
