Girls’ Generation gave meaning to this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), saying, “MAMA is a great opportunity for us to communicate with fans across the world through music.”

The members of Girls’ Generation attended the welcome meeting event held in Singapore on November 29, and said, “We feel great that we’ll be performing on this stage. We’ll hold a concert soon in Singapore, and we’re happy to be meeting our fans sooner than that.”

They added, “We heard MAMA will be broadcast in 20 countries. MAMA is a great opportunity for us to communicate with fans across the world through music. We want to show our fans how we are up close.”

As Girls’ Generation is largely popular worldwide, many foreign reporters had many questions for the group.

Many reporters from countries such as Cambodia and the Philippines asked whether Girls’ Generation had any plans to visit their respective countries, and the members answered, “We’ll go anywhere where there are fans. Please invite us. We always want to get closer to our fans.”

Girls’ Generation will hold a series of exclusive concerts in Singapore from December 9-10, in the same venue this year’s MAMA will be held. The members added, “We want to spend a great time with our fans at our concert, too.”

The 2011 MAMA will hold a grand show in Singapore with not only Korean artists, but artists from around the world to fit its main concept Music Makes One, a dream to bring the world together through music. The show will be aired live in 13 countries around the world, while recorded versions will be aired in seven.

The welcome meeting event brought in media outlets not only from Korea, but also Singapore, Japan, China, the Philippines, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Vietnam, for a total of 200 reporters from 120 outlets.
