FT Island Wants to be an Idol and a Band
FT Island boldly said it wishes to break through idol prejudices.
On the October 8 broadcast of SBS′ You and I, FT Island, the band currently promoting its single I Wish, made an appearance.
When asked how overseas fans have been receiving them, the members said, "Since it′s been a long time since we′ve been to those countries, their reactions have been greater than Korea′s," and added that they′ve been promoting in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
They lived together in Japan to localize themselves to the country and pick up its language. They said about the stay, "We′re good at Japanese, but we can′t speak Chinese or English. Groups usually have at least one member that can speak fluent English but we have none. We read off of a piece of paper."
Lee Hong Gi said to a question asking about the band′s new album, "Our members wrote all of the six tracks other than the first single cut. I don′t compose yet, but the others have been composing. It′s an attempt to draw out our own colors."
He added, "We want to walk the line between idol and band. We′re working hard to pioneer a road no one has ever taken before."
