‘Saturday Night Live Korea’ to Start Airing on December 3
A version of America’s famed comedy show, Saturday Night Live, is about to hit Korean television.
TvN brought together its own strong crew for the program, including stars such as comedian Ahn Young Mi and actors Lee Han Ui, Jung Woong In, Kim Bin Woo and Jang Young Nam, to showcase Saturday Night Live Korea (SNLK).
A total of 16 members from various areas such as film, plays, drama and comedy will be appearing on SNLK. Ahn Young Mi, Lee Han Ui, Jung Woong In, Kim Bin Woo, Jang Young Nam, Kim Won Hae, Lee Hae Young, Lee Chul Min, Lee Sang Hoon, Park Jun Seo, Kim Ji Young, Kim Ji Kyung, Min Seo Hyun, Han Seo Jin, Ko Gyung Pyo and Kim Seul Ki have been chosen for the initial team.
The members of the cast are unleashing their passion just before the show’s first broadcast, pouring out all their ideas on comedy, sketch structure and when the script should be finished to the script director Jang Jin. Everyone is enthusiastic about putting on weird makeup, taking on image-ruining characters or spitting out shocking dialogue, saying that it’s okay even if it’s a small role.
PD Yoo Sung Mo of SNLK said, “Director Jang Jin’s strong script and directing, and the passion of the crew are adding up to make us look forward to the show even before its first episode. Korea’s first live comedy show will shock viewers with its ‘raw’ attractions, and succeed in grabbing their attention.”
Saturday Night Live is a popular comedy variety show in America, and has been airing live for 37 years since its first episode aired in 1975 on NBC. The show has made issues for showcasing top stars such as Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Matt Damon and George Clooney in a more friendly light, and has also been a launchpad for several top comedians, including Will Ferrell and Tina Fey.
SNLK will air its first episode on December 3.
