Psy Stays at His Place at No. 2 on Billboard
Psy shone at no. 2 on the Billboard chart two weeks in a row.
The Korean public watched on with bated breath, looking forward to seeing Psy become the first Korean singer to top the chart, but the singer just barely fell short.
Maroon 5 was the group that stopped Psy from climbing higher. Its single One More Night refused to let go of the top spot three weeks in a row.
Billboard said on October 4, ′The race was extremely close′, and added that the ′key to Maroon 5 maintaining its lead′ was ′radio play′.
It then said, ′[One More] Night also wins the streaming battle, although [Gangnam] Style makes a notable dash to overtake it′ and that ′the greatest victory for [Gangnam] Style over [One More] Night this week is in digital sales.′
′Clearly, Psy remains in contention for the Hot 100′s coveted No. 1 rank next week′, Billboard finished.
Will Psy be able to achieve next week what no Korean singer has ever done before? The important thing, however, is that he′s already gone where no Korean has gone before. His two no. 2 wins on the Billboard chart still mean more than the top spot.
