TVXQ is back with a rough, tribal look, only this time, the boys have added a dab of electronic into the mix.

[Star of the Week] [Song Review] TVXQ Takes You on a Roller Coaster Ride in ′Catch Me′

The group′s new single, Catch Me, is highly reminiscent of its past single, Rising Sun, and is as raw and manly as most of its other songs, yet it still manages to coat everything with recent trends.

The defining point of this song is that although it is a mix of various styles, it doesn′t really blend them together. Each style shines in its own place, keeping listeners teetering between genres.

On one side, the song soars with the piano, synthesizers and strings, while bouncing on dubstep and electronic sounds on the other side. This use of sudden breaks throughout the song is actually a recurring characteristic of TVXQ songs, and although what′s contained in those breaks are always different, they manage to give the group′s singles a continuity all its own.

The sharp contrast between the separate parts makes it feel like the song is on a backward roller coaster, slowly sinking towards dubstep then suddenly being jerked up on piercing high notes and strings.

So, even if you don′t like one part of the song, another part of the song may appeal to you because it has a little bit of everything. Add U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin′s matured voices, and you get a song that′s pretty awesome and entertaining to listen to.
