Song Joong Ki Jumps In Deep Water to Save Park Si Yeon in ′Nice Guy′
Song Joong Ki and Park Si Yeon′s tightrope stunt teetering between love and revenge racked up viewership ratings.
On the September 26 broadcast of KBS2′s Nice Guy, Seo Eun Ki (Moon Chae Won) was shown starting to depend more and more on Kang Maru (Song Joong Ki) after he helped her find a new opportunity. Han Jae Hee (Park Si Yeon), who saw Maru and Eun Ki drift closer to each other, threw herself into deep waters, heightening the tension.
Maru had been acting coldly toward Jae Hee, who had betrayed him, but as soon as she jumped in the water, he immediately followed to save her.
Jae Hee then asked Maru, "You still haven′t forgotten about me, have you?" and Maru stayed quiet with trembling eyes, showing that he hadn′t indeed been able to forget her.
He, however, soon pushed his emotions away and said, "How low can Han Jae Hee go? Is there no limit to how low you can stoop?"
For this scene, Song Joong Ki and Park Si Yeon received much training and refused to use doubles.
Right after the episode aired, viewers left comments such as, ′Song Joong Ki′s eyes still show his passion toward Park Si Yeon!′, ′I can feel how Song Joong Ki feels in the underwater scene~ It hurts′, ′Did Park Si Yeon jump in to test Song Joong Ki?′ and ′I wonder how they feel toward each other.′
They also pointed out, however, that the way Kang Maru mastered his studies in management in just one day for Seo Eun Ki was too unrealistic.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on September 27, the September 26 episode of Nice Guy recorded 14 percent in viewership ratings, topping the charts for its time slot and even surpassing the ratings for MBC′s Arang and the Magistrate. It garnered 11.7 percent, while SBS′ To the Beautiful You received 4.4 percent.
