Noel Tenses Up at Wedding Performances
Noel revealed that they feel the most nervous when they perform at wedding halls, although they’ve been doing it for so long.
In a recent interview with enews about their new album, the members of Noel answered what they did during their five year hiatus, by telling us the obvious (serving in the army) and the not-so-obvious (singing at a lot of weddings).
Their song Propose was especially loved as a great song to sing in celebration at weddings. The members said humorously, “We sometimes sang it alone or two at a time. We were active as units in wedding halls.”
But they added that “wedding hall stages weren’t all that comfortable.” Member Lee Sang Gon said, “It felt great because we were singing an important song on an important day,” but he also added, “If we make a mistake on any other type of stage, it’s just our mistake, but if we make mistakes in wedding halls, we would be messing up a once in a lifetime event, so we were under a lot of pressure.”
They would also sometimes have a hard time singing because the wedding halls didn’t have professional musical equipment. Member Kang Gyun Sung said, “We performed in all sorts of situations. One time, the MR CD (A CD with a recording of the accompaniment and chorus) didn’t play, so we had to sing without accompaniment.”
Propose made issues even while Noel was on hiatus thanks to many other singers singing it on television. Clazziquai member Alex, 2PM member Junsu, Wheesung, 8eight member Lee Hyun, K.Will and Huh Gak have sung the song before.
Currently Noel is promoting its new single Miss You, Miss You. They showed that they hoped their fans would continue to support them, saying, “Because we’re coming back again in such a long time, we’re performing onstage with a mindset like rookies.”
