The preview for the last episode of Reply 1997 has netizens hanging, as it points the Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji couple in both directions.

The preview video for the last episode, which is to air on September 18, gathered two times the views the drama usually gathers for its previews, surging past 500,000 views on tvN′s official Youtube account. Netizens mostly seem to be curious about one thing: who Si Won′s (Jung Eun Ji) husband is.

They′ve been taking apart the preview, voicing their own speculations on how the drama will end. In the preview, Yoon Jae (Seo In Guk) is shown fighting with Si Won with his shirt off, yet in the next scene he is shown kissing her boldly with the words, "What, are you kidding?" implying that perhaps Yoon Jae and Si Won will stay together to the end and wed each other.

The last line by Sung Jae, however, that "they say first loves never come true," and the title of the last episode, ′The reason first loves never come true′, have had other netizens insist that no one knows what will happen to the couple.

Comments by netizens have said, ′Today′s the real d-day for Yoon Yoon Jae!′, ′I think Sung Jae was talking about Jun Hee in that last line because it shows a photo of Yoon Jae and Jun Hee together′ and ′I think I′ll go crazy just watching this preview′.

Reply 1997 gathered popularity for its unique characters, interesting story and nostalgic setting, in which the main characters got together in 2012 to talk about their high school days of the 1990s.
