We’re kicking off our journey down memory lane through our series The Stars: Then & Now with a look back on what the stars were up to exactly one year ago today.

And while some things haven’t changed much in the K-Pop world since then, we were reminded of the curveballs some of the stars threw our way.

[The Stars: Then & Now] Sept. 14, 2011: Super Junior Simply Reigned, Lee Min Ho Named Most Fashionable Hallyu Star, One Shinhwa Member Rocked Out and More

Super Junior reigned

Idol group Super Junior reigned over the music charts in Korea with fifth album Mr. Simple, per usual, but they also took Taiwan by storm last year, topping various music charts abroad as well.

The boys made a Sexy, Free and Single return this year with their sixth album and their recently released repackaged album Spy continues to dominate the music charts. Seriously, what else is new?

Lee Min Ho dressed well

This year’s New York Fashion Week is a wrap, but actor Lee Minho was named the most fashionable hallyu star by international fans just in time for the most important week in fashion last year.

The actor has since made his highly-anticipated return to the small screen alongside actress Kim Hee Sun this year with Faith, where he’s seen donning the hottest garb from ancient Korea.

GD&TOP said “OH YEAH” to Japan

We’re impatiently waiting for G-Dragon’s new solo album to drop at the moment, but around this time last year, fans in Japan had reason to celebrate as Big Bang’s GD&TOP had announced plans to make its official debut in the country.

After the duo’s promotions abroad, Big Bang regrouped earlier this year to release its long-awaited and chart topping album Alive.

But right now, we’ve only got G-Dragon’s new record on the mind. One more day to go until the album’s release!

Shin Hye Sung almost left ballads for rock

First generation idol group Shinhwa made a cosmic return earlier this year with its 10th studio album. But one year ago today, the Young Prince Shin Hye Sung was driving fans wild on his own through his solo concert tour, where his cover of rock band Mate’s Miss You was a crowd favorite.

We almost forgot about Shin Hye Sung’s sweet side because of all the boys will be boys moments on Shinhwa Broadcast.

Girls’ Generation members ‘fessed up

Well, almost.

Kara’s Goo Hara may be all about keeping mum about her idol boyfriend B2ST’s Yong Jun Hyung, but just a year ago, but the Strong Heart MCs at the time, Lee Seung Gi and Kang Ho Dong, got pretty close to getting the members of Girls’ Generation (SNSD) to spill the beans on their crushes.

The K-Pop world has been trying to get more information since, but, unfortunately, we’ve still got nothing.

Those are only the highlights of what went down in the entertainment world in one day one year ago today, so stay tuned throughout the week for more!
