Despite his family connection, Lee Seung Gi’s cousin was unable to escape the harsh words of Lee Seung Chul.

On the September 7 broadcast of Mnet’s Superstar K4, Lee Seung Gi’s younger cousin, Lee Jung Gi (age 19) auditioned for the program, catching the attention of the public.

Lee Jung Gi appeared in the episode introducing himself as Lee Seung Gi’s younger cousin and saying, “From a young age I had a lot of interest in music and looking at hyung (Lee Seung Gi) I began fostering my dreams.”

At the revelation, judges Lee Seung Chul, Gil and Hyun Mi all shared how well-mannered Lee Seung Gi was and also remarked on how the two cousins had similar smiles.

However, once Lee Jung Gi started singing, it became a different story.

Singing Lee Seung Gi’s Delete, Lee Jung Gi showed difficulty reaching his high notes and had pitch issues during his audition.

In the end, Lee Seung Chul honestly shared with Lee Jung Gi, “I don’t think you will become like your hyung”, while Gil added, “Do you know you can’t sing?”

Though Lee Jung Gi tried to come up with the excuse that he had never received singing lessons, Lee Seung Chul responded, “It’s not that you haven’t learned how to sing, it’s that you were never born with a talent for singing in the first place. I think it’s better you just appreciate music.”

The eliminated Lee Jung Gi was seen turning to the camera and saying to his cousin, “Seung Gi hyung, I think I will have to remain as a person who enjoys music rather than singing.”
