Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ Music Video Viewed 100 Million Times on Youtube
Psy became the first singer to have a music video hit 100 million views.
On September 4, Psy’s music video for Gangnam Style gathered 100,084,539 views on Youtube. The feat comes 52 days after the music video was first released.
With this, Psy is now the first artist to score 100 million views with just one video.
Ever since it was first released on July 15, the music video has continued to break record after record at a jaw-dropping speed, gathering 83 million views in just 49 days after its release on September 1.
On September 2 it then surpassed 90 million views, and finally on September 4, hit 100 million.
Overseas reactions to the video are also becoming ever hotter.
According to statistics from Youtube uploaded on September 3 that evaluated views from each country, Gangnam Style was most viewed by audiences in America.
Psy can currently be found in 30th place on the iTunes U.S. Top Songs Chart, and in the no. 1 spot on the U.S. and Canada Music Video Chart.
Psy is now preparing to launch an official promotion in America, and he recently signed a management contract with Island Def Jam Records, which currently holds the global pop stars Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi.
On September 6, he will be appearing at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards to be held in L.A. Psy is the second Korean singer to be invited to an MTV ceremony, following Rain.
